Case Study:

Interim Divisional Managing Director

The Issue

The client, an international FTSE 250 listed group of gambling businesses, identified that following a period of rapid growth, its leading casino brand required more leadership experience to ensure operational management and revenue growth were executed effectively.

The Solution

In conjunction with the client, Marden identified that the solution was to secure an interim Managing Director who would take responsibility for accelerating brand development objectives in alignment with the Boards’ overarching strategy. This would include leading and developing multiple functional teams including player acquisition, retention, conversion, data-analytics, and new market entry.

Marden was instructed to identify and present a small shortlist of leading casino marketing professionals with the relevant level of experience and credentials. Each would be required to demonstrate a quantifiable record of accomplishment at C-Level within a Tier One operator and possess a suitable level of profit & loss, budget, and leadership experience across multiple European sites.

The Outcome

Marden quickly located and secured a suitable shortlist and a lead candidate was promptly identified and accelerated through the process alongside a back-up candidate. The shortlist provided the client with valuable market intelligence and acted as a bench-mark for salary/cost versus experience & value.

The lead candidate was extremely impressed by the flexibility the client’s leadership team and Marden demonstrated in managing the interview process expediently. The efficient interview process and subsequent offer set the tone for the client’s dynamic culture. The Interim Consultant was able to start quickly and make immediate financial returns with minimal induction and demands on management time. The Interim Consultant remained for many years and became an integral part of the firm’s leadership team.
